Tasks of the University Board

 

 

  • The board undertakes the following responsibilities and powers:
  1. Coordinates the scientific activities (educational, training and consultative) of the faculties and enhances its links with various institutions.
  2. Improves the level of services the university provides in relation to education, training, scientific research and community service.
  3. Studies the proposals of the rector to organize work affairs to be endorsed or sent to the board of trustees when necessary.
  4. Endorses the appointment and contracts of academic staff as full-time or part-time (lecturers), transferring them between faculties, sending them on scholarships, specifying their salaries, compensations and rewards and other faculty-members related issues.
  5. Studies the developmental plan and sends it to the board of trustees.
  6. Studies the annual university budget and sends it to the board of trustees.
  7. Proposes the salary scale of employees and sends it to the board of trustees.
  8. Endorses the scientific plans and scientific research.
  9. Grants scientific degrees according to the laws and regulations.
  10. Sets the conditions of admission annually that are not in contrast with the accredited rules of the ministry of higher education.
  11. Proposes the agreement of Memorandums of Understanding with Syrian, Arab and Foreign Universities as well as Arab, regional and international organizations according to the proposals of the board of scientific affairs and research.
  12. Endorses the regulations of authorship and translation and proposes rewards.
  13. Proposes scholarships and discounts and sends them to the board of trustees.
  14. Specifies the academic calendar prior to the beginning of the academic year that does not contrast with the rules of accreditation.
  15. Endorses the documents related to the course equivalence of transferred students according to the regulations of the higher education council.
  16. Proposes the rules of procedure and any amendments and sends it to the board of trustees then to the ministry to finalize it.
  17. The university board tackles the requests of promotion of faculty members according to the request of scientific board and research council according to the regulations of the higher education board.
  18. Proposes new courses in study plans.
  19. Proposes the cessation of accepting new students in some faculties and specialties after the approval of the higher education council.
  20. Awards the honorary doctorate according to the regulations of the higher education council.
  21. Considers any other issue proposed by the rector.
  • The university board meets at least every two weeks.
