Admission Requirements

Admission Conditions

The new students are accepted in the first and second semester after being subject to a selection process made by the university. In order to achieve equal opportunities for all, the selection process is based on the sequence of marks of the applicants. Students’ average marks however should be above the minimum limit of acceptance stated by the resolution of the higher education council.

Admission Conditions

    1. Admission based on baccalaureate certificate

      • Scientific Baccalaureate holders are accepted in all faculties if they satisfy the minimum requirement mark’s condition.
      • Literary Baccalaureate holders are accepted in Faculty of Business Administration and Faculty of Media and Mass Communication.
      • Vocational Baccalaureate holders are accepted in Mechatronics Engineering and Business Administration according to the ratios stated by the Ministry of Higher Education. This holds if the specializations are compatible with the vocational Baccalaureate.

25% of students registered in Administration Sciences, Finance, and Economy.

15% of students registered in other faculties and specializations.

    • • Non-Syrian baccalaureates are accepted if they are issued by one of the Arabic or foreign governmental educational institutions or by private educational institutions that are nationally recognized in their home country however those are subject to the resolutions of the Higher Education Board on this issue. Foreign ccertificates should be equalized to a Syrian one by the Ministry of Education in the Syrian Arab Republic via the Ministry of Higher Education. The original copy of the certificate is requested with two copies certified by the Syrian Embassy in the certificate’s country of issuance.
      The Foreign certificate should be translated into Arabic and certified & equalized by the Ministry of Education. If the certificates were proven null, the registration of the student is cancelled and the holder of the certificate will be charged of forgery. If the university could not prove the authenticity of the certificate, the student is given one academic year to prove the legality of his/her certificate, if not, the registration of the student is cancelled
  1. Admission based on institute certificate

    Students holding the certificate of Intermediate Institute may be admitted to enrol in the university under the following conditions:

    • The student’s major should correspond to the major s/he wishes to register in according to the rules applied by the Ministry of Higher Education.
    • Her/his cumulative grades average in the institute should not be less than (70%).
    • If her/his Baccalaureate certificate average is equal to the admission average in the year of admission, s/he will be admitted regardless of her/his grades average in the institute.
    • In both cases, the student shall be treated according to the Intermediate Institute Certificate.
    • The student will not be exempted of more than 20% of the number of credit hours in the faculty where he is accepted, this will be decided by specialized university boards and an exemption resolution will be issued by the University Board .
  • Admission based on License (B.A)-Certificate

Holders of License (B.A)-Certificate- might be admitted to enrol in the university under the following conditions:

  • The student’s major shall be in line with the major s/he wishes to register in according to the rules applied in the Ministry of Higher Education.
  • Her/his average in the License (B.A.) Certificate should leastwise be (good).
  • If her/his average in the Baccalaureate Certificate satisfies the requirement of admission in the specified faculty in the year of admission, s/he will be admitted regardless of the License average.
  • In both cases, the student shall be treated according to the License Certificate.
  • The student will not be exempted of more than 50% of the number of credit hours in the faculty where he is accepted, this will be decided by specialized university boards and an exemption resolution will be issued by the University Board .

Note

The holder of a university/institute certificate who obtained the baccalaureate certificate with a grade that entitles him to register in the field of interest (in Manara University), but his university/institute certificate is not in line with the major in which he registered, s/he will be exempted of university credits if:

  • S/he has done equal credit hours
  • Her/his curriculum equivalent not less than 75%.
  • Her/his average in the course not less than (2) point or 60%

Transfer conditions

  1. From Syrian private university

    • The student should have studied for a period not less than one semester in the university, s/he wished to transfer from.
    • The student is not given a graduation certificate unless s/he fulfils 50% of the credits in the university he moved to.
    • Transfer into the university is not permitted on the basis of Institute’s certificate or on certificates granted by (open, virtual, correspondence, and distant learning universities).
    • In case of equivalent transfer, the average grades on the Baccalaureate certificate held by the transfer applicant should entitle him to be admitted in the university and faculty s/he intends to transfer to, in the academic semester in which he first registered.
  2. From Non-Syrian university (official or private)

    • The university in which the student enrolled should be officially accredited and recognized in its home country and in the Syrian Arab Republic.
    • The student’s average should not be less than 10% of the average stated in Article (1) of Resolution No. /306/ dated Jun. 28th 2011. And the average should not be less than 50% in any case.
    • The residency condition (eight months each academic year) should be met.
    • The student should have passed or succeeded into the second year in the university s/he intends to transfer from if that university follows the annual or semester system; or if s/he passed at least 25 credit hours if the university follows the credit hours system.
    • If the student fulfils the required average in the year of transfer and s/he wishes to transfer to a private Syrian university, s/he may transfer regardless of the accomplished credit hours taking into account that the residency condition is met.
    • Student should not be fired from the university where was studying.
    • The student should not be accepted unless there is an official acceptance by the Ministry of higher education. This could be by sending (equalization of the certificate, the certificate on which he was accepted, baccalaureate certificate, and a copy of his passport or identity card).
