On the occasion of World Autism Day and during the  Autism Awareness Month, Manara University, in collaboration with the Autism Association in Lattakia, organized an awareness raising forum on this type of disorder. A group of specialists participated in the forum, introducing it and identifying is diagnosis process along with the possible treatment for improving the lives of autistic people in order to be active participants in their societies. A series of lectures from different fields (medical science, Special Education, Psychological Counselling, Occupational Therapy and Pscho-nursing) were presented in order to highlight the role these fields play in providing medical and social services for the people suffering from Autism Spectrum Disorder and their parents. A number of the patients' families and members of different community associations who are concerned with this disorder  participated in the forum. The forum was concluded by a word of appreciation for this collaborative work from various official and community bodies and associations who are calling for raising awareness and providing the best services to cope with this disorder.
