Goal:To enable the mathematical basis of finite element methods and the ability to use their software in the fields of structural mechanics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer and thermal stresses, electromagnetic fields and radiation.
Previous knowledge: Engineering mathematics, mechanics of continuous media.
Content: Mathematical formulations for approximations using one-, two-, and three-dimensional finite elements; Linear and non-linear problems, applications of linear and planar elements in structural mechanics; Finite element applications in fluid mechanics and in mixed problems: solid-liquid, mechanical-acoustic; Applications of electromagnetic and piezoelectric fields.
