As part of the academic activities of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Manara University held an academic activity on the occasion of World Diabetes Day on the treatment of diabetes by insulin. The activity was attended by the Dean, members of the academic and technical staff and the students of the faculty.
The activity included two lectures. The first was presented by Dr. Ruba Salman on the role of insulin in the treatment of diabetes, type A and B, and included a demonstration of the methods of insulin administration during the treatment of diabetic patients, starting from the most traditional, represented by multi-injection methods, and ending with the most recent methods represented by continuous under-skin insulin infusion using the continuous insulin infusion pump. Dr. Mohammad Al-Shighri from Oubri Pharma proceeded the discussion by searching for the most advanced solution for diabetic patients. He presented a thorough explanation of the insulin pump, its parts, method of assembly and operation. He also alluded to the fact that the use of the pump is recommended internationally as the safest and easiest option for the patients that would enable them continue living their lives naturally.
