Manara University commenced the activities of Manara Astronomical Club for this year with a lecture presented by Dr. Mohammad Maala, the academic supervisor of the Club, on "Astronomy and Astrology". The lecture dealt with horoscopes from a historical perspective, taking into consideration several ancient civilizations. The lecturer explained the concept of celestial globe and constellations, including horoscopes, and that the movement of the sun, the moon and other solar planets do not affect the future life of Man. The importance of this lecture lies in the fact that astrology is not a science, while Astronomy is a science that studies the movement of celestial bodies within and without the solar system based on the laws of physics and mathematics. At the end of the session, the questions and queries of the attendees were duly attended to.
