Manara University organized a workshop for the third and fourth year students of the Department of Occupational Therapy on the cognitive effects of traumatic brain injury

In collaboration with the Syrian Organization for People with Disabilities (Aamal) and the  Italian Armadilla Organization and Unimore University, Manara University organized a workshop for the third and fourth year students of the Department of Occupational Therapy on the cognitive effects of traumatic brain injury, their occupational therapy and vocational rehabilitation. 

Professor Barbara Volta of Unimore University, and the help of Dr. Ghayad Darwich the head of the department at Manara University, trained the students for six consecutive days. The training included a theoretical part on the most important cognitive disorders resulting from traumatic brain injuries, such as attention, memory, apraxia and visuospatial disorders and their effects on functional performance in daily life and how to approach these issues from an occupational therapy perspective. Vocational rehabilitation was also addressed by the trainers. In addition to that, several clinical cases were received and evaluated by the trainers and the students. Remedial plans were also set for these cases so that the patients will receive further treatment under the supervision of the head of the department and the students.
