A day- time surveillance session of the partial eclipse

Manara University carried out a day- time surveillance session of the partial eclipse for the members of Manara Astronomical Club on 25th of October, 2022. Using the telescopes available for the club, the surveillance process was carried out from within the University campus, and was attended by the club members, faculties and students. The session was commenced by Dr. Mohammad Ma'alla, the academic supervisor of the club, who explained the solar eclipse phenomenon to the attendance and pointed out that it occurs once every few years as a result of the moon being positioned between the earth and the sun, so that the shadow of the moon falls into the earth, leading to the blockage of some part of the sun. The attendees watched the eclipse from beginning to end, including the peak at 14:07, with 47% blockage of the sun. The Youth Astronomical Club, represented by the leadership board member in charge of information office and club members, participated in the surveillance session.
