Particle and Solid Mechanics

 This course covers the following topics: basics of statics of particles including action and reaction forces, stable equilibrium, torques and couples; properties of surfaces and solids, principle  torques of inertia of plane areas, principle axes of inertia, mass torque of inertia; dynamics of particles, displacements, velocity and acceleration, relative motion, curvilinear motion, Newton’s laws of motion; elements of solid body dynamics, friction force, laws of sliding friction, equilibrium analysis of simple systems with sliding friction, translation and rotation of solid bodies.
