The course reviews the development of architecture during the period of Islamic rule, which extended over a wide area, with its geographical, historical and religious differences. The course sheds light primarily on the development of mosque architecture during 13 centuries, identifying the basic elements of the mosque and the additions that came in response to the development of society. On the other hand, the course reviews the development of palace architecture in the Islamic period, briefly touching on the concept of Caliphate cities and their organization. By studying this course, the student will be introduced to the role of local heritage in clarifying architectural identity.
